Jung called these patterns the ARCHETYPES. Since the archetypes are universal, they are all present in the unconscious of each person. But they combine in infinite variations to create individual human psyches.
There is probably an infinite number of archetypes, as there are innumerable traits and character patterns that exist universally among humans. /…/ it is not a matter of working from a list of types that someone has made. In this area, we have not only the right but the duty to draw on our own creative imagination.
